PTO Position Descriptions
These descriptions are a brief overview. More complete information can be found in the PTO Bylaws. Please feel free to contact the PTO at with specific questions or to express interest.
President – Provides general oversight for the PTO. The President facilitates meetings, monitors
the work of other board members and annual coordinators and helps to ensure that the PTO functions smoothly. This is the only position that requires prior Board experience.
VP of Fundraising – Oversees and facilitate the smooth operation of all fundraisers within the school, while also seeking out new fundraising opportunities. Fundraising efforts that are considered “events” (such as our Auction) are co-coordinated with the VP of Activities.
VP of Activities – Oversees all activities including movie nights, school pictures, holiday events, staff appreciation, student pictures and the yearbook. Events that also include fundraising components are co-coordinated with the VP of Fundraising.
Secretary – Responsible for meeting management, meeting agendas and minutes, and assisting with general office procedures. The Secretary also assists the President to ensure successful communication with our school community.
Treasurer – Responsible for all facets of the fiscal process including tracking the budget, oversight of bank accounts, preparation of taxes, and processing grants and staff reimbursements.
Volunteer Coordinator – Works closely with the board to determine needs and recruit volunteer. The Volunteer Coordinator maintains a list of volunteers, schedules them for volunteer slots, sends reminders and thank you notes and solicits volunteers for special projects.
The PTO Bylaws encourage the use of Annual Coordinators and Committees to help make these Executive Board positions manageable. We have a successful history of utilizing committees for major events, such as Sweets with Santa, Auction, Carnival, and Navigator Dash.
While this list is subject to change, we currently utilize Annual Coordinators for the following activities: Art Discovery, Book Fair, Box Tops, Labels for Education, Restaurant Nights, Spirit Wear, Student Directory and Yearbook.
